Dear Friends,
During the fall of 2019 and the spring of 2020, the local volunteers performed a major upgrade on the dera garden in Wisconsin. The size of the garden remained unchanged, but the level of the garden surface was raised three feet and huge amounts of beneficial compost were added.
First, 100 backhoe buckets of black dirt from the dera stockpile were added to raise the entire level of the garden in order to improve the drainage.
Next, the Dera Dumper was used to bring in many tons of rich, dark, local-farm compost on top of the black dirt.
And then a chisel plow was used for deep mixing of the compost with the black dirt.
Finally, a volunteer used a Bobcat to level the dirt in the garden, and it’s ready for planting!
In the next blog, seeds and seedlings!
With warmest regards,
