Dear Friends,
One of the recent big jobs at Ishwar’s construction project in Bruce, Wisconsin was to pour the concrete floor for the ISHA Maintenance Shed/Greenhouse. Due to the size of the garage floor, the pour was divided into two sections, each of which is about half of the floor area.
But, before the concrete could be poured, the building had to be emptied, and the dirt floor had to be prepared.
Here’s the shed before any cleaning.
And here’s the building cleaned out!
One component of the preparation was to dig the dirt out from around the walls to create insulated footings.
Foamboard insulation was installed to form the footings.
The insulated footing boxes were filled with concrete.
Then, a base of gravel was spread and compacted by the volunteers.
Wooden forms were built to contain the concrete.
A sevadar cuts rebar using a steel-cutting grinder.
And finally, a rebar grid is built across the floor, and we’re ready to bring in the concrete.
In the next blog, the concrete trucks arrive!
With warmest regards,
