Dear Friends,
Volunteers have been busy at Ishwar’s dera project in Wisconsin. Recently, they finished pouring the concrete floor for ISHA’s new Maintenance Shed/Greenhouse. This building will be used to store vehicles and equipment, and can be used as a workshop when construction begins on the Meeting Hall Dome.
A Bobcat Skid-Steer Loader is used to grade and smooth the dirt floor in the Maintenance Shed.
Then, the garage bay is lined with Class 5 gravel, which is a crushed and graded sand/gravel mix that contains a “binder” that gives it extra strength.
The first cement truck arrives before 7:00 AM, and the hard work begins.
The concrete is flattened and leveled with a long screed board.
At the front end of the garage, they don’t need the wheelbarrows!
An expert sevadar uses a large bull float to smooth out the surface and force the large gravel particles downward.
Next, the team of phenomenal workers gives a smooth edge to the floor.
Careful use of steel trowels creates a smooth and long-lasting finish.
When properly installed, a concrete floor is one of the most durable building materials on Earth. This gorgeous floor should last many lifetimes!
All done with Love & Devotion!!
There’s always a need for more helpers at the dera property. If you can help, even for a few hours in the garden, or for a week at the Bonus Seva event (Sept 7-12 and Sept 17-22), please contact me at ISHA.Dera.Seva@gmail.com.
With warmest regards,
