The flowers are followed by clusters of small black, blue-black, or red berries.&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"\">Raw elderberry fruit and flowers<\/span><span class=\"\">&nbsp;are a rich&nbsp;source of&nbsp;vitamin C, and are<\/span><span class=\"\">&nbsp;used as&nbsp;dietary supplements&nbsp;for colds and the flu, commonly prepared as a tea or an extract.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">\n<div class=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"785F6F8D-ACB6-4CCB-B924-8E837B9221AA\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/ishanews.org\/ishwarsprojects2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Dera-2019-Elderberry-photo.jpg\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><span class=\"\" style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The Harry Potter fans might recall that the most powerful magic wand in the wizard world was the Elder Wand (also known as the Wand of Destiny). The wand was made of&nbsp;elderberry wood, and it helped Harry Potter to prevail over the dark powers.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">\n<div class=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"DA35351D-5B07-447D-8F3E-A140A8CDD9CC\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/ishanews.org\/ishwarsprojects2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Elder-Wand.jpg\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">\n<div class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><span class=\"\">Chokeberry (not Chokecherry) is a native shrub with beautiful white summer flowers, that are followed by bold, red leaves and black berries in the fall. They have many human health benefits&nbsp;and birds enjoy feeding on the berries.&nbsp;<\/span>The sour berries can be eaten raw, but are more frequently&nbsp;processed in wine, jam, syrup, juice, spreads, tea, salsa, extracts, beer, ice cream, and&nbsp;tinctures. The name &#8220;chokeberry&#8221;&nbsp;comes from the&nbsp;bitterness of the fruit, which creates the sensation of making the mouth pucker. Juice from the ripe berries is&nbsp;astringent, semi-sweet, and sour.
