It\u2019s so green in Bruce that it can be difficult to tell the garden from the native plants! The garden lies within the fenced area, outlined by the green posts with white tops. The ISHA Meeting Hall garden contains two; green and yellow. The U.S. grows 1.5 billion pounds of pumpkin each year, and the world\u2019s heaviest pumpkin weighed 2,625 pounds! Our pumpkins are still green, and won\u2019t weigh much over 20 pounds, but they\u2019re sure to be delicious.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"CC4D66DD-A6FE-4D67-9A88-3B6B5FB15B3C\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/ishanews.org\/ishwarsprojects2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/5-Dera-2018-garden-Pumpkin-hullless-seed.jpg\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; color: #000000;\">These lovely Red Kuri Squash are a type of winter squash. Inside the hard outer skin is a firm flesh with a very delicate and&nbsp;mellow flavor similar to the taste of chestnuts. This squash can be baked, braised, pureed, or steamed to be served as a side dish or used as a base for soups.&nbsp;Also known as a Japanese squash, Orange Hokkaido or Uchiki Kuri squash.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"75E52720-9711-4FC2-8C7A-1756FD4F698F\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/ishanews.org\/ishwarsprojects2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/6-Dera-2018-garden-Kuri-Squash.jpg\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Eggplant&nbsp;is a&nbsp;species&nbsp;in the&nbsp;nightshade family, related to tomato and potato. The spongy fruit is widely used in cooking in many different cuisines and is often considered to be a&nbsp;vegetable,&nbsp;although it is a&nbsp;berry&nbsp;fruit by&nbsp;botanical&nbsp;definition. These beauties would make some tasty&nbsp;Baingan Bharta!<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"D1250271-CA7D-4AF7-8BB0-1E5C0D6B45A1\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/ishanews.org\/ishwarsprojects2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/7-Dera-2018-garden-eggplant.jpg\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Cabbage is a good source of Vitamins K and&nbsp;C&nbsp;and&nbsp;dietary fiber. Cabbages can be prepared for eating in many different ways. They can be&nbsp;pickled,&nbsp;fermented,&nbsp;steamed,&nbsp;stewed,&nbsp;saut\u00e9ed,&nbsp;braised,&nbsp;or eaten&nbsp;raw.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"9A2DE2DF-EB73-431F-9401-EDA3B3B3D031\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/ishanews.org\/ishwarsprojects2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/8-Dera-2018-garden-cabbage.jpg\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; color: #000000;\">This &#8220;Sacred Green Corn\u201d was planted by a satsangi who received it from Native American friends. It is derived from&nbsp;2000-year-old seeds from Tennessee.&nbsp;The seeds were planted in a circle with plants at each of the four cardinal directions and double in the middle&nbsp;for Earth and Sky\/Sun. It is not sweet corn. It will dry on the stalk before it is harvested.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"BCDC4889-D7F6-492B-B05C-171DEB25CFAC\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/ishanews.org\/ishwarsprojects2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/10-Dera-2018-garden-Corn-July29.jpg\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Bok Choy is a type of Chinese cabbage that is a nutritional powerhouse. It&nbsp;will grow rapidly in the heat of summer all the way through fall.
